The Senate of the State of Rhode Island expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of Saysomboun Phivilay, who was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to Khamsing Phivilay for fifty years and was a devoted mother to Phanida and Alina, as well as a loving grandmother to several grandchildren. Born in Thakhek, Laos, she immigrated to the United States in 1980, where she created a warm and welcoming home for her family, sharing her Laotian heritage and traditions through cooking and family gatherings.
In recognition of her gentle spirit and the love she shared with her family, the Senate extends its heartfelt condolences to the Phivilay family. The resolution also authorizes the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of this resolution to Khamsing Phivilay and the family members, honoring the memory of Saysomboun Phivilay and the impact she had on those who knew her.
