The Senate of the State of Rhode Island expresses its deep sadness over the passing of the Honorable Barbara Ann Capalbo of Ashaway, who was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, she had a distinguished career in the arts, managing ballet and opera performances, and teaching lighting design at the Rhode Island School of Design for over twenty years. In addition to her contributions to the arts, Mrs. Capalbo served her community with dedication as a member of the Hopkinton Town Council for fourteen years and held positions on various boards, including the South County Tourism Board and the Hopkinton Historical Association.

Mrs. Capalbo was known for her love of cooking and hosting family gatherings, particularly Thanksgiving meals, and was an active member of Christ Church, reflecting her deep faith. She is survived by her husband, William, her children, nine grandchildren, and her sister, along with many nieces and nephews. The resolution concludes with the Senate extending its condolences to the Capalbo family and directing the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to them.
