The bill amends Section 11-47-11 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-47, which pertains to the licensing of individuals to carry concealed pistols or revolvers. It establishes that licensing authorities in any city or town are prohibited from requiring an applicant for a license or permit to carry a concealed firearm to provide any reason for their application other than those outlined in Section 11-47-11. The bill further prohibits licensing authorities from imposing additional or stricter requirements than those set by the Department of Attorney General, as well as from charging any fees other than those required pursuant to Section 11-47-12.
The act specifies that the license or permit shall be issued in triplicate in a form to be prescribed, and it takes effect upon passage.
