The Senate of the State of Rhode Island expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of Daniel A. Spaight, Jr., a dedicated public servant and beloved husband of Jacqueline Spaight for over 66 years. Born in Pawtucket, Mr. Spaight had a notable career as a teacher and Vice Principal in the East Providence School Department and contributed significantly to the Rhode Island Department of Education. He was also an educator at Johnson & Wales University after retirement. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Spaight was an avid golfer and swimmer, recognized for his contributions to aquatic sports, including his induction into the Rhode Island Aquatic Hall of Fame.
Mr. Spaight was a man of strong faith and community involvement, actively participating in St. Martha’s Parish and the East Providence Democratic City Committee. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family. In light of his contributions and legacy, the Senate extends its condolences to the Spaight family and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Jacqueline Spaight.
