The bill amends Section 42-46-6 of the General Laws concerning "Open Meetings" to allow school committees to add items not appearing in the published notice to their agendas for discussion purposes only, and not for the purpose of voting on those items. This provision is contingent upon certain conditions being met. The act requires that when such items are added, they must be for discussion only and not for voting.

The bill maintains existing requirements for public bodies to provide written notice of their regularly scheduled meetings at the beginning of each calendar year, including details such as dates, times, and locations. Additionally, public bodies must give at least 48 hours of supplemental notice before any meeting, detailing the agenda and nature of the business to be discussed.

The act will take effect upon passage.
