The House has expressed its deep sorrow over the passing of Elena Marie Ciccone, who was the beloved wife of Senator Frank A. Ciccone, III, and the cherished mother of Carla and mother-in-law to John Rose. Elena was a native of Providence, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Bassi, sister to Maria Lauro and the late Frederick and William Bassi, and a loving aunt. She began her career as a hairdresser and later worked for the City of Providence Parks Department for 25 years, being a member of LiUNA Local 1033. Elena was also active in various organizations, including The Italo-American Club and the Cranston Post War Veterans Women’s Auxiliary, and was a devoted parishioner at Saint Bartholomew Church.

Elena Ciccone was known for her infectious personality, love for social outings, basketball games with friends, and a special affection for rescue dogs, including her family's Rottweilers. She was recognized for her stylish flair, talent for gift-giving, and a generous heart that touched many lives. The resolution conveys the House's deepest sympathies to her family and friends and instructs the Secretary of State to deliver a certified copy of the resolution to Senator Ciccone and his family as a token of condolence.
