This resolution acknowledges the significant contribution of the arts to Rhode Island's economy and the enrichment they provide to the lives of residents and visitors. The arts sector in Rhode Island contributes $2.37 billion to the state's economy, accounts for 3.25 percent of the state's GDP, and generates $23 million in annual state and local tax revenue. The resolution also recognizes the importance of arts education and the negative impact the pandemic has had on the arts and culture sectors.

To support and celebrate the arts, the Senate of the State of Rhode Island proclaims May 28, 2024, as "Arts Advocacy Day." The Senate urges all Rhode Islanders to recognize and support the state's arts and cultural assets. Additionally, the resolution directs the Secretary of State to send certified copies of this resolution to the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) and the Rhode Island Coalition for the Arts to further disseminate the recognition and support for the arts.
