This resolution acknowledges the significant contribution of the arts to Rhode Island's economy and cultural landscape, noting that the arts sector adds $2.37 billion to the state's economy, accounts for 3.25 percent of the state's GDP, and generates $23 million in annual state and local tax revenue. It also highlights the importance of the arts in enhancing the quality of life for Rhode Islanders, attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and providing educational programs. However, it recognizes that the arts and culture sectors are among those most adversely affected by the pandemic.

To support and promote the arts, the Senate of the State of Rhode Island proclaims May 28, 2024, as "Arts Advocacy Day." The resolution calls upon the people of Rhode Island to recognize and support the arts and cultural assets that contribute to the community. It also directs the Secretary of State to send certified copies of the resolution to the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) and the Rhode Island Coalition for the Arts, signaling a legislative endorsement for the continued vitality of the arts sector in the state.
