The resolution honors Head Coach Paul Rizzo for his exceptional 19-year career as the head coach of the North Providence Boys Basketball Team, from 1999 to 2018. Under his leadership, the team made the playoffs 15 times, won six league titles, and secured three Rhode Island Division II Boys Basketball Championships, with back-to-back undefeated seasons in 2014 and 2015. Coach Rizzo's accomplishments have been recognized with multiple Coach of the Year awards, including the Rhode Island Basketball Head Coaches Association Division 1-A Coach of the Year in 2002 and Division II Coach of the Year in 2005, 2011, and 2015, as well as the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s Coach of the Year Award in 2015.

In addition to his basketball coaching achievements, Coach Rizzo also led the North Providence High Softball team to three state titles and served as the head coach of the North Providence Boys Baseball Team since 1999. The resolution concludes by congratulating Coach Rizzo on his induction into the Rhode Island Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Coach Rizzo as a formal recognition of his contributions and achievements in high school sports coaching.
