Rhode Island's Community Health Centers have been providing essential medical services, including primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care, for over fifty years. These centers serve more than 200,000 Rhode Islanders, offering care regardless of age or ability to pay. They also provide additional services such as language interpretation, transportation, and case management. Employing over 2,000 healthcare professionals and support staff, these centers not only contribute to the health sector but also have a significant economic impact, generating over $545 million in economic activity and creating 3,408 jobs in 2021.

In recognition of the vital role these centers play in the state's healthcare system, the House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island has resolved to proclaim May 23, 2024, as "Rhode Island Community Health Center Day." This resolution honors the legacy and ongoing contributions of the eight Community Health Centers spread across all five counties of Rhode Island. The Secretary of State is directed to transmit certified copies of this resolution to each of the named Community Health Centers as a formal acknowledgment of their service to the community.
