As the largest division of Cox Enterprises, founded in 1898, Cox Communications has been actively involved in charitable initiatives through Cox Charities since 2001, investing in grants and in-kind support, particularly in S.T.E.A.M. enrichment programs for youth in the Northeast Region. Cox's philanthropic focus includes supporting environmental sustainability, community development, youth and education, diversity, and technology enhancement, especially at the K-12 level.

The resolution acknowledges the 2024 Rhode Island recipients of Cox Charities grants, which include various organizations focused on youth development, education, and community empowerment.
