The resolution recognizes the critical role of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in providing essential public health care and support in Rhode Island. It highlights the dedication of the 4,238 licensed EMS practitioners across 83 agencies in the state, who are available 24/7 to deliver lifesaving care. The resolution emphasizes the importance of quality emergency care in improving survival and recovery rates for individuals facing sudden health crises, as well as the expanded role of EMS in offering preventative and follow-up care, including telemedicine services.
In celebration of National EMS Week, themed “Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future,” the resolution calls for the acknowledgment of the contributions made by EMS professionals and the various roles they play within the emergency medical system. It encourages all Rhode Islanders to appreciate the efforts of these dedicated individuals and directs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to the Director of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, Marc R. Pappas.
