The Narragansett Council BSA, part of the Boy Scouts of America, has been a significant youth development organization since its inception in 1910, serving the State of Rhode Island and neighboring areas. The Council has been instrumental in fostering leadership, self-sufficiency, and community service among youth, with 1,398 new Scouts joining in 2023. Scouts and leaders contributed over 25,000 community service hours and collected substantial food donations for local food pantries. Additionally, the Council's Camp Yawgoog hosted thousands of campers, served a large number of meals, and facilitated the earning of numerous merit badges.

The resolution acknowledges the Council's year-round Adventure Base Camp at Camp Champlin, which offers outdoor adventure programs to all Rhode Island youth and families. A new Leadership and Program Center is proposed to enhance these offerings, requiring federal funding for infrastructure improvements. The Council also provides various educational programs, including career exploration and leadership training. Since girls were welcomed into the BSA in 2019, the Narragansett Council has enrolled 799 girls. The Senate of Rhode Island celebrates Scouting month, recognizes the contributions of the Narragansett Council, and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to the Scout Executive and CEO of the Narragansett Council BSA.
