The Narragansett Council BSA, a significant youth development organization in the region, has been serving the State of Rhode Island and neighboring areas since its inception in 1910. The Council has been instrumental in fostering leadership, self-sufficiency, and community service among youth, with 1,398 new Scouts joining in 2023. The Scouts have contributed significantly to their communities, exemplified by the 25,197 hours of community service and the collection of 150,652 pounds of food for local food pantries in the same year.

The Council also emphasizes the importance of camping and environmental education, with Camp Yawgoog hosting 4,565 campers and awarding 15,443 merit badges in 2023. Additionally, the Adventure Base Camp at Camp Champlin offers year-round programs to all Rhode Island youth. The Scouts are proposing a new "Leadership and Program Center" at Camp Champlin to enhance their offerings, which will include a large meeting space, a "Wet Lab" for STEM activities, and a new headquarters for the Narragansett Council. The resolution welcomes the Narragansett Council to the Rhode Island State House, celebrates Scouting month, and acknowledges the positive impact of the Scouts and their leaders in the community. The Secretary of State is directed to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Mr. Tim McCandless, Scout Executive and CEO of the Narragansett Council BSA.
