The Narragansett Council Boy Scouts of America (BSA), founded in 1910, is a significant youth development organization in the region, serving the entire State of Rhode Island and parts of neighboring states. The Council has been instrumental in fostering leadership, self-sufficiency, and community service among youth, with 1,398 new Scouts joining in 2023. Scouts and leaders contributed 25,197 hours of community service and collected over 150,000 pounds of food for local pantries in the same year. The Council also operates Camp Yawgoog and the Adventure Base Camp at Camp Champlin, providing camping, environmental education, and year-round outdoor adventure programs. A new Leadership and Program Center is proposed to enhance these offerings, for which federal funding is sought.

The Narragansett Council offers a variety of programs, including career exploration in fields like law enforcement and fire service, as well as training in youth protection, outdoor ethics, and leadership. Since girls were welcomed into BSA in 2019, 799 have joined the Narragansett Council. The resolution acknowledges the positive impact of the Council on youth and communities, celebrates Scouting month, and expresses gratitude to the Scouts and their leaders. The Rhode Island House of Representatives welcomes the Narragansett Council to the State House and directs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to the Scout Executive and CEO of the Narragansett Council BSA.
