Thomas Dambo, a celebrated Danish artist known for his "Waste No More" initiative, is bringing his unique brand of joy and creativity to Rhode Island with the installation of two giant trolls made from recycled and reclaimed wood. These sculptures will be unveiled at Ninigret Park in Charlestown and are hoped to be the start of a troll trail across the state. Dambo, recognized as the world's leading recycle artist, has his work displayed in over 20 countries and has created 125 trolls worldwide, with 44 in the United States. His ambition is to build 1,000 trolls using recycled materials globally, and he has also constructed over 7,000 birdhouses.

The South County Tourism Council, which aims to promote various towns in Rhode Island as a leisure travel destination, sponsored Dambo's trolls to attract more visitors and boost the local economy. The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island has passed a resolution to celebrate and thank Thomas Dambo for his contributions and to wish him well in his future projects. The resolution also instructs the Secretary of State to send certified copies of this resolution to Thomas Dambo and Faye Pantazopoulos, Creative Director of the South County Tourism Council, acknowledging the significant relationship between the arts and the quality of life, as well as the arts' role in fostering a thriving state economy and preserving the world for future generations.
