The resolution acknowledges the positive impact of the Boys & Girls Clubs in Rhode Island, which are instrumental in youth development across six communities within the state. These clubs provide essential services such as homework assistance, workforce readiness, health and wellness programs, substance abuse prevention, and recreational activities. They aim to nurture young individuals, particularly those in greatest need, to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year program, established in 1947, is highlighted as a premier recognition initiative that celebrates Club members for their service, academic achievements, moral character, and life goals, thereby preparing them to thrive and lead in a diverse, global economy.

The resolution specifically honors six exemplary young representatives from the Rhode Island Boys & Girls Clubs: Wayne McNamara, Tyler Moyet, Rozaria Dos Santos, Gerardo Carino Jr., Gionna Michel, and Salem Hale. These individuals have been selected for their exceptional dedication to excellence and their representation of the over 20,000 youth served by the Boys & Girls Clubs in the state. Consequently, the House of Representatives of Rhode Island designates May 1, 2024, as "Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Day" and encourages all Rhode Islanders to recognize and celebrate the achievements and community contributions of these young people. The resolution also instructs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.
