This bill amends Section 12-12-17 of the General Laws to update the statute of limitations for various criminal offenses. It adds second-degree sexual assault to the list of offenses with no statute of limitations and establishes a ten-year statute of limitations for third-degree sexual assault. The bill also clarifies that any person who participates in an offense as a principal, accessory, or conspirator will be subject to the same statute of limitations as if they had committed the offense themselves. Additionally, the bill establishes a seven-year statute of limitations for certain environmental offenses. The bill will take effect upon passage.
