Laura Zeisler has been an influential figure in Rhode Island's early childhood education sector since 1977, when she began attending meetings of the Permanent Commission on Child Care and served as the President of the RI Association for the Education of Young Children. Her tenure as Chair of the Diversity Council for the New England Association for the Education of Young Children in 1992 highlighted the importance of providing professional development in Spanish for native Spanish-speaking educators, a cause she ardently supported throughout Rhode Island and at NEAEYC events. Zeisler's advocacy extended to her representation on the Permanent Commission on Child Care for Family Child Care Homes of RI in 2009, where she contributed to the planning of the first Child Care Awareness Day at the State House.

As Laura Zeisler retires, she plans to continue her involvement with the early education community and advocate for fair wages for early childhood educators. She also hopes that the Commission on Child Care and educational leaders in Rhode Island will persist in supporting Spanish communication and education, as well as policies and regulations that address the unique needs of family child care educators. The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island honors Laura Mason Zeisler for her 46 years of dedicated service and wishes her a happy and healthy retirement. A certified copy of this resolution will be sent to Laura Mason Zeisler, M.Ed., by the Secretary of State to acknowledge her contributions.
