The organization's signature event, WaterFire, has become an international attraction, drawing nearly one million visitors annually, revitalizing the city's nightlife, and fostering community engagement. An economic evaluation report has credited WaterFire with an annual economic output of over $151 million, generating more than $11.9 million in direct tax revenue for the state and supporting approximately 1,300 jobs.

In recognition of WaterFire Providence's impact on tourism, the local economy, and community development, including its investment in programs for young BIPOC community members and artists under thirty, a resolution has been proposed to appropriate $750,000 from the state treasury to provide operational support for the organization for the fiscal year 2024-2025. This funding is intended to support the continuation and growth of WaterFire Providence's contributions to the state's cultural tourism and creative economy.
