This bill, titled "Prohibition on the Use of Police Robot Technology," would amend Title 42 of the General Laws by adding a new chapter. The new chapter, Chapter 166, would define terms related to the use of police robot technology. It would define "law enforcement officer," "police robot dog," "robot," "UAVs," "unmanned aerial vehicles," and "weapon."

The bill would also prohibit law enforcement officers from authorizing the use of armed robots, police robot dogs, or UAVs armed with any weapon while carrying out their duties, whether on-duty or off-duty. However, there are exceptions for situations involving explosives-related incidents or breaching barricades. Additionally, the bill would prohibit departments employing peace officers from receiving any public or private funding for the purchase or procurement of police robot dogs. The bill would take effect upon passage.
