Vicki Virgilio has been an active participant in the labor movement since her early years, accompanying her father to union meetings and events. Her official involvement with Local Union 1033 began in 1978 when she was employed as a Legal Secretary in the City Solicitor’s Office of Providence. Over the years, she has served as a Union Steward, participated in labor strikes, and held positions such as Recording Secretary and President of the Union. She has also contributed to various public employee funds and served on committees within the Laborers' International Union of North America.
The resolution honors Vicki Virgilio for her 45 years of commitment to advocating for workers' rights, job protection, improved working conditions, benefits, and fair wages in Rhode Island. The Senate of the State of Rhode Island recognizes her contributions and congratulates her on her retirement, wishing her health and happiness in the future. Additionally, the Secretary of State is directed to provide Ms. Virgilio with a certified copy of this resolution.
