Steven Lukowicz has been recognized for his long-standing and impactful career in education, which began in 1986 in Coventry's public schools. Throughout his tenure, he has held various roles, including teaching life science at Coventry Middle School for seven years before moving to Coventry High School in 1994. His dedication extended beyond teaching; he coached football, mentored student teachers, and served as an informal mentor to his colleagues. His efforts were instrumental in the school's successful accreditation renewal by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, where he served as co-chairperson.
In 2017, Lukowicz was appointed Chair of the Science Department, where he made significant contributions, such as improving NGSA science test scores and enhancing educational programs. As he moves into retirement, he plans to enjoy time at the beach, escape the winter months, and attend to personal projects. The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island honors Steven Lukowicz for his 37 years of service, commends his achievements, and extends best wishes for his retirement. A certified copy of this resolution will be sent to him by the Secretary of State.
