Margaret Brennan and Gwynne Millar have been recognized with the Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators for their exceptional contributions to environmental education and their innovative teaching methods. Both educators have inspired their students to explore their potential and believe in a future filled with promise. Brennan, a Science Coach at Portsmouth Middle School, has been a strong advocate for outdoor learning and led her students in creating a student-led farm project called Portsmouth AgInnovation. Millar, a biology and environmental sustainability teacher at Exeter-West Greenwich High School, has encouraged her students to tackle real-world problems, such as food waste, through hands-on experimentation and research.

The resolution honors and congratulates Brennan and Millar for their achievements and contributions to education in the State of Rhode Island. They will each receive a Presidential award plaque, a professional development award of up to $2,500, and a congratulatory letter, with their respective schools also receiving up to $2,500 to fund environmental educational activities. The resolution wishes them continued health, happiness, and success and directs the Secretary of State to transmit certified copies of the resolution to both educators as a formal recognition of their accomplishments.
