Father Andrew George, a native of Monessen, Pennsylvania, has been an active member of the Orthodox Church community since his youth, particularly at St. Spyridon Parish. He holds a Master's degree in Theology from Hellenic College and Holy Cross Seminary. His involvement with the church extends to various roles, including serving in Orthodox summer camp programs across multiple dioceses, working as Assistant Director at the Ionian Village in Greece, participating in the Hellenic College-Holy Cross Summer Good-Will Tour, and coordinating youth activities in Toledo, Ohio. He was ordained to the diaconate in 1977 and later began his service at the Church of the Annunciation in Cranston in 1983, where he has been an exemplary administrator and spiritual leader for four decades.
The resolution acknowledges Fr. George's dedication to his parish, where he has overseen significant improvements and celebrations, such as the expansion of the community center, upgrades to the church grounds, and the church's centennial celebration. In addition to his ecclesiastical contributions, Fr. George is recognized as a devoted family man, mourning the loss of his wife Presvytera Maria, and taking pride in his children and grandchildren. The Senate of the State of Rhode Island honors Fr. George for his forty years of faithful service to the Church of the Annunciation, wishing him continued health and service.
