Lucy Rose-Correia, a Rhode Island native with a strong background in business management and human resources, has been recognized for her significant contributions to the community, particularly in relation to her efforts to honor Cape Verdean veterans. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Lesley University, a Master's degree from Salve Regina, and professional certifications in Human Resources. Rose-Correia is the Chief of Talent & Learning at Children’s Friend, founder of Qualia Life Coaching, and has previously worked with Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island. She is also known for her business expertise, having received the Providence Business Award and for her work in promoting Cape Verdean culture.

Rose-Correia founded and presides over the Cape Verdean Memorial Project, which successfully installed a monument in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery to recognize the service of Cape Verdean veterans. This monument, inaugurated with Major General Gary Brito as the keynote speaker, is the first of its kind at a state/federal funded site. It commemorates the long history of Cape Verdean military service in the United States, from the American Revolution to contemporary conflicts. In recognition of her efforts and the importance of the Cape Verdean contribution to the United States, the President of Cabo Verde awarded Rose-Correia the “Ordem do Dragoeiro” (Order of the Dragon Tree). The Rhode Island House of Representatives congratulates her on this honor and directs the Secretary of State to provide her with a certified copy of the resolution.
