The Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus in Rhode Island has been providing essential health care services since 1995, catering to patients with severe medical conditions that require extended hospitalization. The facility is recognized for its compassionate care for those in greatest need, including individuals with acute breathing issues, severe wounds, infectious diseases, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and geriatric patients requiring significant medical resources. The hospital is also noted as a model for long-term acute care facilities, and there is an organized patient group, "Patients for Progress," that has been advocating for high-quality care since 1979.

The Rhode Island House of Representatives has resolved to recognize "Zambarano Day" on May 16, 2023, to honor the staff of the Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus for their dedication and to express appreciation for their ongoing efforts in caring for long-term acute care patients. The resolution also reaffirms the House's support for the hospital's continued operation as a premier long-term acute care facility for the benefit of Rhode Islanders. The Secretary of State is directed to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the hospital staff.
