It emphasizes the role of teachers in sustaining democracy and fostering good citizenship. In recognition of their contributions, the Senate of the State of Rhode Island proclaims May 8th through May 12th of 2023 as "Teacher Appreciation Week" in Rhode Island, expressing gratitude to all teachers for their devotion to educating children. The resolution also instructs the Secretary of State to send certified copies of the resolution to the presidents of the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals and the National Education Association of Rhode Island.
