The bill amends Section 28-26-7 of the General Laws in Chapter 28-26, which pertains to the requirements for obtaining a hoisting engineer's license. The new legal language inserted into the current law specifies that applicants must have held a certificate of registration from the department of labor and training for at least three years prior to applying for a license. Additionally, applicants must provide an affidavit or other evidence of having engaged in 6,000 hours of on-the-job training as an apprentice hoisting engineer in Rhode Island over a three-year period, including the successful completion of 120 hours of related instruction at a recognized training program.

The bill also outlines that any misstatements regarding work experience or qualifications can lead to penalties under ยง 28-26-11. Furthermore, applicants for a full license, hydraulic crane license, or lattice crane license must include a valid medical health card with their application, along with a notarized statement detailing work-related experience. Those applying for a construction forklift license or a full license must also include a copy of their OSHA forklift certification. The act will take effect immediately upon passage.
