This bill amends Chapter 7-6.2 of the General Laws entitled "Workers' Cooperatives" by adding a new section. The new section allows a corporation that elects to be governed as a workers' cooperative to indicate in its articles of incorporation or bylaws that it intends to furnish skilled labor through its members performing contract labor for other entities. However, it specifies that the individuals performing the labor must do so as independent contractors through the workers' cooperative corporation. This clarification allows the workers' cooperative to operate as a hiring hall under certain circumstances. The bill will take effect upon passage.
