This bill amends Chapter 5-88 of the General Laws entitled "Military Spouse Licensure" to change the title to "Military Member and Spouse License Issuance." The bill also amends Section 5-88-1 to specify the requirements for issuing a professional service license to a military spouse. The bill adds new sections to the chapter, including a section that outlines the disqualifications for license issuance, a section that requires the board to provide a written decision regarding the application within 60 days, and a section that allows for an appeal of an adverse determination. The bill also includes provisions regarding the limitations of the occupational license, the recognition of occupational credentials issued by other entities, and the determination of military education, training, and experience. The bill also requires the occupational licensing board to include a notice on all license applications and communications denying a license, stating that the state may recognize occupational licenses obtained from other states for military members and their spouses. The bill preempts any rules, regulations, or ordinances of cities, towns, municipalities, and other subdivisions of the state that regulate occupational licenses. The bill takes effect upon passage.
