In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution to recognize the month of November, 2026 as “Veterans and Military Families Month” in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania’s veterans, servicemembers, and military families have made significant contributions to the security and wellbeing of our Commonwealth and nation throughout its history and veterans continue to serve their communities long after leaving uniformed service, while military spouses, children, caregivers, and families support servicemembers through deployments, training, relocations, career disruptions, and other demands of military life.

By designating November as Veterans and Military Families Month in Pennsylvania, we are provided the opportunity to recognize the sacrifices, resilience, and achievements of veterans and military-connected families as well as Pennsylvania’s own achievements in supporting these brave people in turn such as our Commonwealth’s efforts to reduce barriers to professional licensure and certification portability for military spouses; employment and career-support programs for veterans, servicemembers, and their spouses; emergency financial assistance through the Military Family Relief Assistance Program; and education benefits available to eligible veterans, Pennsylvania National Guard members, spouses, and children.

Please join me in sponsoring this critical resolution so that we reaffirm our Commonwealth’s commitment to recognizing the essential role military families play in supporting our Armed Forces, including the Pennsylvania National Guard, Reserve components, and Coast Guard while also honoring the service and sacrifices made by our veterans, servicemembers, and their families to ensure the peace, freedom, and prosperity of our Commonwealth, our nation, and our communities across our history and into our future.
