We are introducing a resolution designating Friday, October 2, 2026, as “Manufacturing Day” in Pennsylvania. Manufacturing remains the lifeblood of our Commonwealth’s economy, generating more than $100 billion annually in gross state product and employing over 550,000 Pennsylvanians on plant floors. The sector also supports extensive supply, distribution, and retail networks that sustain millions of additional jobs statewide.

Despite its strength, manufacturers today face significant workforce challenges. Thousands of positions across Pennsylvania remain unfilled, even though manufacturing careers offer above-average wages and benefits. Misconceptions that manufacturing is dirty, dangerous, or lacking in career fulfillment continue to discourage young people from exploring these opportunities.

Manufacturing Day is a national initiative that helps address this skills gap by encouraging employers and schools to host events showcasing modern manufacturing careers.
