In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will place reasonable safeguards on commercial solicitations for optional products.
 
Not a day goes by without mailboxes being filled with what many would call junk mail, including commercial solicitations that use partial or misleading information in an attempt to deceive Pennsylvanians. While many people may immediately throw this material away, some, especially seniors, may open it and become confused about the true nature of what is being offered, particularly regarding home warranties and insurance.
 
My legislation will require these mailings to include a clear and conspicuous disclaimer stating that the mailing is merely a solicitation and that any product offered is entirely optional.
