In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing the weeks of October 4–10, 2026, January 10–16, 2027, and April 4–10, 2027, as “PIAA Officials Appreciation Weeks” in Pennsylvania. These designated weeks align with the Fall, Winter, and Spring sports seasons in which high school athletes across the Commonwealth participate. This resolution is substantially similar to Senate Resolution 166 from the 2025–26 Legislative Session.
 
PIAA officials are essential to the success of school athletics, providing oversight that ensures fairness, safety, and sportsmanship for students, coaches, and spectators. Their role extends far beyond rule enforcement, they help cultivate environments where young people develop teamwork, discipline, and character.
 
Through their commitment, officials foster respect, responsibility, and resilience, reinforcing lessons that reach well beyond the playing surface.
 
Yet, despite their importance, PIAA officials often receive little recognition. They invest significant time in training, preparation, and travel, frequently while managing careers, families, and other responsibilities. PIAA Officials Appreciation Weeks offer communities an opportunity to acknowledge these dedicated individuals, whose service makes every game possible.
