Pennsylvania is approaching an important deadline regarding skill games. Following the recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision, the current 120-day period expires on October 13, 2026. The General Assembly is actively considering how skill games should be addressed under state law, including questions involving regulation, taxation, licensing, enforcement, consumer protections, and the appropriate locations for these devices.

However, with October 13 quickly approaching, Pennsylvania also faces the possibility that no comprehensive legislative framework will be enacted before the current period expires.
For that reason, I plan to introduce legislation establishing a temporary six-month transition period, through April 13, 2027, while the General Assembly continues its work.
The transition would provide certainty for small businesses, organizations, employees, distributors, manufacturers, and others affected by the current legal landscape, while allowing additional time to address these complex issues.

The legislation would not predetermine the tax rate, regulatory structure, revenue distribution, or other elements of the final framework. It would maintain the current legal status of skill games through April 13, 2027, avoiding an abrupt change while the General Assembly completes its work.
