In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation designating a bridge in Allegheny Township, Blair County, as the Lt. Col. Palmer Brown Memorial Bridge.

Palmer Brown was born on June 24, 1937, in Duncansville, Pennsylvania. Palmer was a 1955 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. Outside of work, Palmer enjoyed spending time with family and was an ordained Southern Baptist minister who was instrumental in starting and building churches in Pearl City, Hawaii and the Pumpkin Hill section of Laurel, Maryland. Palmer also served as a Blair Twp. Supervisor. He was active in his church and an advisor to the Cross Team Ministries in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania. Lt. Col. Palmer Brown served a 35-year career with the United States Marine Corps, rising from the rank of Private to Lt. Col. when he retired in 1990.

Lt. Col. Palmer Brown received various honors for his service including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation (2nd Award), Nay Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation (3rd Award), Good Conduct Medal (2nd Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross Color With Palm), Vietnam Service Medal (6th Award), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Action Medal First Class Color With Palm), Naval Security Group Meritorious Service Award, Letter of Appreciation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Marksman badge (2nd Award) and Pistol Export badge (7th Award). Lt. Col. Palmer Brown passed away on December 14, 2025, in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
