In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation designating the North Hanover Street Bridge in Pottstown Borough, Montgomery County, as the Commander Job W. Price Memorial Bridge.

Commander Job W. Price was born on July 29, 1970, in Pottstown, Montgomery County. Despite his father serving in various administrative and educational capacities at his hometown private secondary school, Job chose to attend Pottstown High School, where he forged his own path. He excelled academically and athletically, serving as captain of the football team and earning first-team all-conference honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman. He was also the District 1 South heavyweight wrestling champion in consecutive years.

Commander Price graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1993 and subsequently completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, where his classmates selected him to receive the “Fire-in-the-Gut” Award for extraordinary resilience. Following a rotation with SEAL Team Four, he completed U.S. Army Ranger training in 1997.

Commander Price went on to serve with SEAL Team TWO, Naval Special Warfare Unit TEN, Special Operations Command Central, Naval Forces Central Command, Joint Special Operations Command, and Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command. In 2011, Commander Price rotated back to command of SEAL TEAM 4, where he stated he wished to change the team’s motto from “bad to the bone” to “the deed is all, the glory is nothing.”

During his nearly twenty years of service, Commander Price was awarded three Bronze Stars, three Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals, three Defense Meritorious Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and five deployment medals, among numerous other service commendations.

In December 2012, Commander Price succumbed to non-combat-related injuries while supporting village stability operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan. He is survived by his spouse, Stephanie Price; his daughter, Jillian Price; his sister, Bronwyn De Maso; his niece and nephews, Lucia, Stella, Matteo, and Luca; his uncle, The Honorable J. Frederick Price; and his extended family.

Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation and join me in honoring the service of Commander Job W. Price.
