In the near future, we plan to reintroduce a resolution recognizing October 9, 2026, as Ageism Awareness Day in Pennsylvania.
Ageism remains one of the most widespread and socially accepted forms of prejudice, impacting older adults’ health, longevity, and financial well-being. Ageism Awareness Day is an opportunity to draw attention to the impact of ageism in our society and how we can shift our attitudes toward aging.
It is up to all of us to ensure that older adults are treated with respect and portrayed as capable, competent, effective, and valued members of society. Preventing ageism benefits all residents of the Commonwealth.
Please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution on behalf of our older citizens.
