In the near future, we will introduce a resolution designating October 2, 2026, as “Manufacturing Day” in Pennsylvania.
 
Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to showcase the careers, technologies and innovations driving modern manufacturing while inspiring the next generation of creators and problem solvers.
 
The manufacturing sector employs over 550,000 hardworking Pennsylvanians with average wages exceeding $86,000 per year. Further, over 90% of manufacturing workers receive health care benefits from their employer.
 
Over the next decade, 3.8 million new manufacturing workers will need to be hired across the country. Pennsylvania’s existing strong base of manufacturers, in sectors including food and beverage, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, fabricated metals and machinery, transportation equipment and defense, primary metals and advanced manufacturing and robotics demonstrate the growth potential for the state.
 
The manufacturing sector needs creators and innovators to thrive into the future. With thousands of new jobs emerging across the Commonwealth in the next decade, there’s never been a better time for young people to explore a career in modern manufacturing.
