Substance use disorder impacts our friends, families, and neighbors and unfortunately often results in tragedy. According to the preliminary drug overdose data, approximately 2,802 Pennsylvanians lost their lives in 2025 and 850 thus far in 2026. These staggering statistics demonstrate the need for education, prevention, and efforts to support recovery.
As part of our efforts to support those individuals on their path to recovery and raise awareness, we are introducing a resolution to designate September 2026 as “National Recovery Month” in Pennsylvania.
Since 1989, National Recovery Month has been observed in the month of September to promote and support evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, and to recognize those in recovery and the dedicated service providers who make recovery possible for so many.
Please join us in this recognition by cosponsoring this Resolution.
