Public transportation is a crucial part of the lives of many Pennsylvanians and an economic opportunity engine for hundreds of communities. Given how valuable public transit is to our state, expanding these systems to provide current and new customers in our state with the best available means of transportation must be prioritized. This includes cutting-edge technology like automated transit systems, which have been successful projects in cities like Vancouver, but are not currently utilized in Pennsylvania.

We should take the initiative in seeing whether automated transit is right for our Commonwealth. My resolution would direct the Joint State Government Commission to prepare a study examining the feasibility of creating a public transit system with no on-board staff, . The study would look into costs, funding sources, potential locations, and experts in the field of automated transit systems.

Providing reliable, efficient, and affordable transportation is of utmost importance for Pennsylvania. We need to do our due diligence and make sure the best possible systems are available for the people and businesses who benefit from public transit.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to explore the best options for the future of public transportation in Pennsylvania.
