Nearly 7 million people in the United States live with some form of alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss or thinning. Most individuals experience alopecia areata, which causes patches of hair—often small and circular—to fall out. Others contend with complete hair loss, known as alopecia totalis.

While alopecia is not a life-threatening illness, there is currently no cure. People suffering from alopecia can struggle with self-image—especially teenagers and young adults. I hope to bring awareness to alopecia and its impacts to people living with this disease with this resolution.

Please join me in designating September 2026 as Alopecia Areata Awareness Month in Pennsylvania.
