LeBron James announced that he will join the Philadelphia 76ers, bringing his legendary career to one of the NBA’s most iconic franchises.
 
To commemorate this historic moment, we will be introducing a resolution designating July 24, 2026, as “LeBron James Day” in Pennsylvania.
 
The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the NBA’s most iconic franchises, with a legacy built by legends including Wilt Chamberlain, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Joel Embiid, and now LeBron James.
 
Over more than two decades, LeBron has built one of the greatest careers in sports history. He is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, a four-time NBA Champion, four-time NBA Most Valuable Player, four-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and a record 22-time NBA All-Star. His excellence, leadership, and longevity have inspired generations of athletes around the world.
 
Off the court, LeBron has transformed lives through the LeBron James Family Foundation and its I PROMISE initiatives, expanding educational opportunities and creating opportunities for children and families in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
 
Philadelphia is a city that loves basketball and celebrates excellence, passion, and winning. LeBron’s decision to finish his legendary career in Pennsylvania is a historic moment for our Commonwealth and for one of the NBA’s most storied franchises.
