In the near future, I will introduce legislation to codify and reform several aspects of Pennsylvania’s regulation of mixed martial arts (MMA) contests, aimed at establishing stricter guidelines and practices for enforcement over amateur MMA fights. These include the creation of a Subcommission on MMA within the State Athletic Commission to oversee amateur and professional MMA bouts, the requirement of fighters to carry a medical passbook documenting their medical and fight history, restrictions on certain attire, additional protective gear requirements for bouts, and bans on certain holds and maneuvers in amateur bouts.
