Pennsylvania is known for its long tradition of distilling rye whiskey, dating back to the 1700s. Pennsylvania rye whiskey is recognized throughout the world for its distinct flavor and quality. Today, Pennsylvania distillers continue to craft rye whiskey using Pennsylvania-grown ingredients, just as they did centuries ago. The rye whiskey industry supports economic growth in Pennsylvania agriculture, tourism, and the broader spirits industry.

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation, along with Representatives Paul Takac and Marla Brown, to designate rye whiskey as the official state spirit of the Commonwealth. Designating rye whiskey as the official state spirit will provide the formal recognition it deserves as a product of great historical and economic significance in our Commonwealth's rich history.
Please join me in sponsoring this legislation to acknowledge Pennsylvania rye whiskey's important historical significance and its modern-day contributions to our Commonwealth.
