Soon, I plan to introduce legislation which will prohibit fairs in Pennsylvania from using the title “state fair” in their name and advertising.
Pennsylvania is known for its robust and diverse agricultural heritage. There is no better place where it is shown off than at the numerous fairs that are held across the commonwealth every spring, summer, and fall. Recently there has been a wave of a few fairs using the term “state” fair. Currently, there is no statute that allows for the use of the title “state fair” in Pennsylvania. This legislation would change that to keep all fairs across the state on the same level and not allude that they are recognized as the Official State fair of Pennsylvania. The only event that truly has claim to that title is the Pennsylvania Farm Show that is held annually in Harrisburg.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation which recognizes Pennsylvania’s numerous fairs and celebrates them all as premier events
