Currently there are several types of vocational training schools that are regulated by licensing boards rather than the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Under this long-standing practice, real estate and appraiser schools have been regulated by the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs in the Department of State.

This legislation, which is a companion to Senate Bill 838, will clarify the Private Licensing School Act of 1986 to match existing practice by adding real estate and appraiser schools to the list of exempt schools. Updating the law is necessary because PDE has recently attempted to claim oversight of a real estate school.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation so that we can provide clarity on governance under the Private Licensing School Act of 1986.
