In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation designating the portion of State Route 611 from the intersection with Old Easton Road to the intersection with Kellers Church Road in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, as the Joseph Kay Memorial Highway.

Joseph W. “Joey” Kay was born on May 8, 1989, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Joey was a 2007 graduate of Central Bucks East High School. Joey continued his education at Pennsylvania College of Technology while pursuing a career as an electrician. Outside of work, Joey was deeply connected to the Bucks County community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and local organizations. He was also an accomplished race car driver, competing in the Mid-Atlantic Racing Sprint Series and at Action Track USA, where he earned the respect and admiration of fellow competitors and fans for both his talent and sportsmanship. Joey's life was rooted in service to his community. Continuing a family legacy of volunteerism and public service, he proudly served with the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, where he demonstrated dedication, selflessness, and a willingness to help others whenever needed.

In recognition of his commitment and contributions, he was named Firefighter of the Year in 2012. Additionally, Joey worked alongside his father in the family business and served as Vice President of John W. Kay Electrical Contractors in Richboro, Pennsylvania. Joey is survived by his loving wife of 3 years, Rachel; his parents John W. and Susan (Quigley) Kay; in-laws, Pam and Steve Salera; and brother-in-law Peter Salera and grandfather Jack Kay. He is also mourned by his 3 devoted sisters and their spouses: Shannon A. Rittenhouse (Corey), Lauren A. Etter (Jon), and Megan K. McBride (Dennis) and 8 eight cherished nieces and nephews: Carson, Callum, and Sloane Rittenhouse; Landon, Garrett, and Charlotte Etter; and Bridget and Sean McBride. He is preceded in death by his loving grandparents Arline and Donald Quigley and Elizabeth Kay. Joseph W. Kay passed away on June 2, 2024 as the result of a crash caused by an impaired driver. He was 32 years old.

Please consider joining us in cosponsoring this important legislation, honoring the service, hard work, kindness and community involvement of Joseph W. Kay.
