Access to child care is a problem in every community in this Commonwealth. At this point, we are all familiar with the challenges of retaining staff, the closures of child care facilities, and the rising cost for families when care is available. As the price of child care climbs, families are forced to make difficult choices about whether it is worth it to work, and when parents leave the workforce, our economy loses out on the skills and talents they bring to businesses.

To address this, we are introducing legislation that will create a tri-share program that would allow participants to split child care costs between families, employers and the state. This program reflects the fact that we all have a stake in affordable child care.

Tri-share programs have been created in several other states, and employers have embraced the opportunity to participate in this program. Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation to help make child care affordable and bring more parents into the workforce.
