Several years ago, a viral video showed two Pennsylvania teens and a wounded deer they had shot while hunting. The teens kicked the deer in the face, stomped on its legs, and ripped off one of its antlers. This heinous behavior led to widespread public outcry, and charges were eventually filed against the two individuals. However, there is currently no statute authorizing the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) to revoke or deny the hunting licenses of individuals who torture wildlife in this way.
 
To remedy this, I will be re-introducing legislation to grant the PGC the ability to revoke or deny a license to anyone who hunts in this heinous way. The legislation would also give PGC the ability to revoke or deny a license to anyone convicted of animal cruelty. I believe we must provide additional humane protections to Pennsylvania’s wildlife, while also preserving the traditions of ethical sportsmen across the Commonwealth. 
 
Although animals cannot speak for themselves, as co-chair of the General Assembly’s Animal Protection Caucus, I believe our furry friends deserve to be given a voice. It is our responsibility to provide for the humane treatment of all animals.
