This bill amends the Administrative Code of 1929 by adding a new section, Section 2126.1, which establishes the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System within the Department of Health. The purpose of this system is to promote the collection, analysis, and dissemination of population-based data aimed at improving maternal and child health in Pennsylvania. The Department of Health is tasked with administering the program, which includes facilitating a survey of individuals who have recently given birth to gather data on their preconception and postpartum behaviors, attitudes, and experiences.
Additionally, the bill allows the Department of Health to utilize available funding, including federal appropriations, and to contract with third-party entities to meet the requirements of the new section. It also stipulates that the Department may share data with researchers, provided that the confidentiality of personally identifiable information is maintained. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
